Taken from my blog at www.novelconceptstudio.com/blog

~One of the most effective marketing tools you can utilize is Pay Per Click
(PPC) Marketing. There are two that I highly recommend, and that is because they
are the two most used search engines in the world. That is Google and Yahoo, and
they have programs called AdWords and Overture’s respectively. They both
function in the same way, but for brevity’s sake we will use Google’s AdWords in
this example..

The first thing you will want to do is sign up for your account. This is free
to do. It will take a couple of days to confirm your account. They will make a
small deposit, and you need to confirm the amount of that deposit. From there,
you will name your campaign and then write your small ad. This ad needs to be
catchy, and provide everything you want to convey. You do NOT want to be
misleading, because this will only cost you money. Remember, this is pay PER
click.

After having your ad in place, you need to decide the keyword phrases you
want this ad to appear under. This allows you to draw targeted traffic, and you
really cannot be any more targeted than this. You want to carefully select these
keywords, and google has a nice option to filling out more keywords based on a
few that you provide. There are also helpful tools to help you choose the ideal
keywords for your campaign.

Once you have your campaign ready, go ahead and activate. You will need to
pay close attention to which ads are successful. If you are having 10,000
impressions (which is how many times your ad has been displayed) per day, and 0
clicks, than it may not be the right ad to display for that keyword. Having said
that, if you’re getting 10,000 impressions and 5,000 clicks, but 0 sales, than
again you may not have the right ad in place.

PPC can be a very effective method to driving targeted traffic to your web
site. It can also be very costly if your ads are not placed correctly. If you
are just starting out with this method, I suggest starting small. You don’t want
to get in over your head in costs. Of course, I would always suggest consulting
with a professional as well. As usual, this type of service is offered as part
of our internet marketing package!
