In contrast, tax deductions reduce your taxable income (and thus result in a fractional decrease of your tax liability).

Do you experience a boom during the holiday season?

If your business experiences a boom during the holiday season, what are you doing, if anything, to prepare for this year? What steps do you take? When do you normallly begin your preparations? When do you see the most business, before or after Christmas?

He was a really smart and inspirtional guy - I guess that is why he is the CEO of one of t he fastest growing franchises. He gave a lot of great advice and insight to my client about organization and communication.

Anyway, a friend was asking me tonight about good franchises to invest in. Chem-Dry is not very exciting, unless you like cleaning carpets, which I don't. But I was really impressed with the Chem-Dry system. I am thinking about hooking her up with them.

She had been with us for 6 years.)

The office manager needs to be my right hand person. Things from answering the phone, doing the invoices, keeping everything humming along (I am away for up to a week at a time), representing the company professionally, understanding our services, and being able to talk about them, managing our advertising, just generally being the business owner when I am not around.

I think it's a pretty interesting position and I provide a good salary, with the stability of a 15 year old and growing business. It is M-F, 9am - 5.30- ish hours. We are in a small town, but I know a lot of people commute to larger towns, so would think it would be an attraction to work locally. I am flexible on time off as I have another person who can cover as needed but doesn't want a full time job. We have a lot of fun ( I think) and I pay for benefits plus lunches from the local deli.

I've posted this position several times in local papers and online. Maybe my ads aren't clear, but I'm getting some really dismal responses. I'm getting a lot of applicants but most of them can't even put together a decent resume or string a sentence together. Now I'm wondering if I was just spoiled by my last office manager and my expectations are too high.

If anyone has ideas on good places to look, or suggestions (such as I'm considering whether to make it two part-time positions) please let me know.

Thanks

It took me 10 minutes to come up with that so you can imagine how long it took me to write a newsletter. Days of hour after hour of blank page gone every month.

There was no way out of it because if your news letter is just a commercial people will not read it. What good is sending it if they do not read it, just more junk in the in-box, and we all know what happens to that stuff check, check, check DELETE.

I searched through site after site of newsletter writing tips and article writing services and found that most of them wanted link-backs and where just poor quality. The last thing you want is some link leading people away from your newsletter. I looked a little longer and came across a provider that was reasonably priced and over delivered. I not only got the newsletter articles I needed but also got great photos.

My newsletter and free guides never looked so good. Plus writing my newsletter has never been so easy just pick the article, copy, paste, add my promo, a photo and it is done no more writers block. So I fingered I should go through one last blank page to give them a thumbs up, and explain what they offer you.

The solution I have found is a great site called Niche Content Packages. All articles are written by carefully chosen professional writers. These are not the $5 (or less) article writers that you can find at the freelance sites. These writers are experienced, professional and know what they're doing!

You can rest assured that each article contains the high-quality content your website needs to make you and your website successful.

Your new content comes with private label rights. This means you get full editorial rights over the content. Use and change the content as you wish.

Use the content in any number of ways including but not limited to using it for creating your own websites, blogs, newsletters, e courses, using it as basis for viral reports and info products and any other creative thing you can think of.

While private label rights allow you almost total freedom there are some restrictions ... like reselling our content products or submitting unchanged articles to article directories. These restriction are set up to maintain the limited availability of the articles.

Each packet comes with around 20 articles as well as vivid high definition photos. These packages have saved me countless hours of work just by using them for my newsletters. They also make great giveaway booklets to help you pre-sell your products, because we all know that customers are more likely to buy if your giving something away.

Hope they can save you as much time as they have saved me.

Thank you for your time,

As background, the client and I have a consulting contract in place for time and materials. I did some preparation work and attended meetings on the client's behalf, and then the project was cancelled. The client is claiming that the invoice for my time is not valid, that it was part of my "bidding" on the project and therefore a cost of doing business. I do not agree, and the contract is not worded this fashion.

I have never, in over 10 years consulting, experienced a situation like this, so I have never engaged a debt collection or factoring service. The invoice is not for a large amount, so for a one-off situation, I am not inclined to find such a service.

The client has paid another invoice for some technical copywriting services I provided. I don't intend to do any more work for them as there were other things I wasn't happy with, so I am not concerned with burning any bridges. I have sent an e-mail to my contact and asked him to forward it to the CEO, who is blocking the payment. In the e-mail I explained that we had an agreement for time and materials, that the invoice is valid and that I expect to be paid for my time.

Any suggestions on other avenues I can investigate? As I mentioned, it is not a large invoice, but it is a matter of principle to me at this point......

Thanks!
